Week 30: Solving 2-Step Equations

This is the first assignment that students worked on.  2 Step Equations no fractions Students had the majority of the period to work on the assignment.  Students must show work to earn credit.

Week 26: Simplifying and Evaluating Expressions

This week students were hard at work on Simplifying and Evaluating Expressions.  We focused on using the distributive property and combining like terms as well as substitution. Students were responsible for completing the worksheet Simplifying and Evaluating Expressions Prob Set 1 and 2.

At the end of the week, students took a paper/pencil test where they needed to show work.

Week 25: ALEKs goal is 62%!!

A major focus at BCCS this year has been ALEKs.  At the start of week 21 students should have reached 50% of 7th grade math.  

By the end of week 25 (Feb 14th), students need to reach 62% of 7th grade math.  

Your week 25 ALEKs Grade will be as follows:

90% or higher = 10 points (Advanced)

69 – 89% = 9 points (Advanced)

62-68% = 8 points (Proficient)

43 – 61%  =7 points (Basic)

37 – 42 % = 6 points (Below Basic)

less than 37 % would be Far Below Basic  = 5 points 

Week 24: Writing Equivalent Expressions and Combing Like Terms

Students covered some challenging topics this week including writing equivalent expressions by combing like terms and evaluating expressions.  Some of the assignments included Homework Wed February 5 and Thursday’s homework (Sprint Round 1).

 

Week 23: Properties of Math Test

Weeks 21-22: Equations and Expressions Resource Book

Weeks 21 & 22 are focused around important vocabulary and properties that are part of our new unit (Expressions and Equations.) Students will be graded on an ongoing project (our Equations and Expressions resource booklet)

Winter Break (December 20-January 13)

Students, during the Winter Break your responsible for making sure that you have mastered at least 50% of the 7th Grade Math course on ALEKS.com

Remember that completing 50% will be one of your first project grades for our second semester.

Week 19: Tuesday-TEST DAY!

No homework today (since students took a test during class time-on Computing Rational Numbers)

Students should be working on ALEKS so that they are more than 50% through 7th grade math before January 14th. This will be part of our math class grade.
